The Emergence of The Swans - A Look at the History of Swansea City Football Club

The history of Swansea City Football Club is one of the most interesting and controversial stories loaded with all football clubs in Europe. Since its inception in 1912, fans have had a roller coaster, screaming happily for a moment, groaning with disappointment the next. The Swans, as it is affectionately called, was founded in 1912 (Swansea Town). They played their first competitive against arch-rivals Cardiff City, which ended 1-1. They won the Welsh Cup at the first attempt and has played regularly in the 2nd Division of the Southern League. Shortly after the First World War, the infantry, known as were the founder members of Division 3 and in 1925, emerged as champions of the same and has qualified for the semifinals of the FA Cup too. The 1930 has seen a drop in form, have managed to stay in the series 3 - Just. Fortunately, in 1940, Swansea Football Club, was recovered in the season 1948/49, when they won the championship (3rd Division - South). The Swan '82 season is the best in its history when he beat football giants like Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and eventually Leeds United for a place in the 6th division. However, in all but 3 years, the swans became the ugly duckling dramatically once more, deep in the fourth division.
